What is the TIM Big Data Challenge?
TIM Big Data Challenge is a contest aiming to stimulate innovation, starting from a Big Data package.
Are you an enthusiast or expert? Or do you simply relish a challenge? This is the contest for you! Professionals, researchers and enthusiasts from all over the world rise to the Big Data challenge, developing projects for our future.
This year, the challenge is themed around Big Data for Competitiveness Boost: how can data help a country grow and become more competitive?
How does it work?
Thanks to TIM, which partners the initiative, participants can exploit the largest, most innovative Big Data dataset, as a starting point for developing their projects; imagination, skills and professionalism are the ingredients of success.
The most original ideas will be rewarded during the Big Data Jam to be held in Rome.
Data packages and tracks
There are two tracks (areas of action) along which to best develop this year’s theme, Big Data for Competitiveness Boost:
- Academic Track: dedicated to researchers and university students designing innovative solutions in an experimental phase
- Industrial Track: for industrial professionals developing solutions more in line with implementation in the market world in the short- or medium-term.
At the end of the two-month challenge, the ten most promising proposals will be selected (five for each track) for inclusion on a short list from which a panel of experts will choose the three best participants for each track.
The data supplied as part of the Big Data Challenge dataset will be geo-referenced, heterogeneous and anonymous and related to national territory.
What do you win?
Winners will be selected by the committee of renowned international experts from the field of industry, the academic world andresearch: the panel will have the task of assessing the ideas received and rewarding the most worthy.
During the Big Data Jam, finalists will display their project to the public, showing the whole process that led to the end result. After the presentations, the official ceremony will be held, with the cash prizes awarded.
The winner for each track will receive a prize of 10,000 euros.
So what are you waiting for? Are you up to the challenge? Take part!
